It is a base raw material for Agidol-1 (4-methyl-2.6-di-tert-butyl-phenol) and other phenol-type antioxidants (color and light stabilizers, thermal stabilizers). It is readily soluble in alcohol, acetone, normal hydrocarbons, toluene. It is practically water-insoluble. It belongs to moderately hazardous materials (3-d Class of Hazard).
